Trump relishes in outspoken critic GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger saying won't seek reelection

Kinzinger voted earlier this year to impeach Trump, making him the second Congressman to vote for impeachment to announce his retirement.

Former President Trump on Friday seemed to find satisfaction in Rep. Adam Kinzinger – one of 10 congressional Republicans who voted to impeach him – announcing he won't run for reelection in 2022.

"2 down, 8 to go!" Trump said in a statement obtained by The Hill.

The first in the group of 10 to announce their retirement was Ohio Rep. Anthony Gonzalez. All voted to impeach Trump over the Jan. 6 Capitol breach. Gonzalez announced his retirement last month.

Beyond having little or no support from the Republican Party' still-influential Trump wing, Kinzinger, had he decided to run for re-election, would have had to compete against GOP Rep. Darin LaHood who has been a staunch supporter of Trump.
