Trump says GOP should not cut Social Security, Medicare to offset Biden's 'reckless' spending

Former President Donald Trump on Friday urged fellow Republican now in office to not take "a single penny" from Social Security or Medicaid to offset Democrats' spending.

“Under no circumstances should Republicans vote to cut a single penny from Medicare or Social Security to help pay for [President] Joe Biden's reckless spending spree, which is more reckless than anybody’s ever done or had in the history of our country,” Trump said in a video on the TRUTH Social platform.

Trump, who is running for president again in 2024, said cuts should instead by made to "corrupt foreign countries," "climate extremism" and "left-wing gender programs from our military."

"While we absolutely need to stop Biden’s out-of-control spending, the pain should be borne by Washington bureaucrats, not by hard-working American families and American seniors," Trump said about possible cuts to the social programs. "The seniors are being absolutely destroyed in the last two years."
