Biden third-year approval average worse than any president since Carter: Gallup

After three years in office, public opinion appears sour on President Joe Biden and his stewardship of the nation, with the commander-in-chief posting the lowest third-year approval rating average since former President Jimmy Carter, who left office in 1980.

The Gallup third-year averages tracking the overall approval rating of a president across their initial three years in office. Biden's average stood at 39.8%, just above Carter's superlatively low 37.4%. Former President Trump earned a 42.0% third-year average while his predecessor, Barack Obama, earned a 44.5%.

At present, Biden stands narrowly above his average rating, commanding 41% support in Gallup's January survey.

In the RealClearPolitics polling average, which includes the Gallup survey, Biden earns 40.0% approval and 56.5% disapproval.

Trump, for his part, has previously referenced Carter in light of Biden's tenure. Earlier this month, he quipped that "Jimmy Carter is happy now, because he will go down as a brilliant president by comparison to Joe Biden," The Hill reported.
