The Biden administration is reportedly expected to announce Friday that it will lift a federal requirement for international travelers to test negative for COVID-19 before entering the U.S, according to a senior administration official.

The change will take effect at midnight Sunday, according to CNN, which first reported the change.

The airline industry has asked the administration for months to end the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirement that vaccinated international travelers test negative before being allowed on a flight into the United States, saying it was slowing the recovery of that part of the business, as domestic travel is rebounding from pandemic lows.
