The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Saturday gave final approval for infants, toddlers and preschoolers to get COVID-19 vaccines.

The shots, for children as young as 6 months, will become available next week, according to the Associated Press.

On Saturday, CDC advisers recommended the vaccines for the children, then agency director Dr. Rochelle Walensky gave final approval, as was expected.

The Food and Drug Administration earlier this week approve the vaccines. The CDC then decides who should get them.

Millions of doses have already been ordered nationwide for distribution to doctors, hospitals and community health clinics .
