Former President Trump reminded Americans on Friday, one day after the CDC recommended no mask for the fully vaccinated, that his administration fast-tracked the making and emergency approval of the COVID-19 vaccines that led to the agency's major announcement.

"Isn’t it incredible that because of the vaccines, which I and my Administration came up with years ahead of schedule (despite the fact that everybody, including Fauci, said would never happen), that we no longer need masks, and yet our names are not even mentioned in what everybody is calling the modern day miracle of the vaccines?" Trump said in a statement.

His administration's Operation Warp Speed helped pharmaceutical firms get the funding and federal support to make the vaccines and to get the Food and Drug Administration to give them emergency-use approval.

The approvals came at end of Trump's presidency, resulting in much of the vaccine rollout going to the Biden administration.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday recommended that people who are fully vaccinated don't have to wear a mask indoors or outdoors.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is considered the country's No. 1 infectious disease expert and was a member of Trump's coronavirus task force. However, he frequently clashed with Trump over coronavirus policy and messaging.

"Without the vaccines, this world would have been in for another 1917 Spanish Flu, where up to 100 million people died," Trump also said Friday. "Because of the vaccines we pushed and developed in record time, nothing like that will be even close to happening. Just a mention please! The Biden Administration had zero to do with it. All they did was continue our plan of distribution, which was working well right from the beginning!"
