Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday suggested that Haitians arriving in the Florida Keys could end up the upper-crust left-wing enclave of Martha's Vineyard, appearing to reference a prior instance in which he flew illegal aliens from the southern border to the island.

"We do have our transport program also that's gonna be operational. Haitians land in Florida Keys, their next stop very well may be Martha's Vineyard," he said during an appearance on "The Dana Show" with Dana Loesch.

The governor was discussing the importance of interdicting arrivals before they reach Floridian territory and highlighting Tallahassee's limited options for repatriation due to the Biden administration's policies.

Haiti is currently in a state of anarchy after Prime Minister Ariel Henry resigned during an uptick in gang violence that has sent many residents fleeing the country. Earlier this month, Haitian gangs stormed the prisons and freed roughly 3,700 inmates, resulting in the current chaos.

Last week, DeSantis ordered the deployment of more than 250 personnel to the southern coast to aid federal authorities in dealing with an expected surge in maritime arrivals from the island. Also last week, he confirmed the seizure of a boat carrying Haitians, firearms, and drugs north of Vero Beach.
