Dr. Oz catches up to Fetterman in PA Senate race

Questions surrounding Fetterman's physical ability to serve following a stroke have helped to improve Oz's prospects.

Republican Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dr. Oz has cut into what was once a commanding lead by Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman in the contest to represent the state in Washington.

Oz now trails Fetterman by just 2%, with 46% support among likely voters compared to 48% who backed Fetterman in a recent AARP Pennsylvania poll. The margin of error is 4.4%, making the race a statistical tie.

In late August, the Democrat held a near-nine point lead over the Trump-backed television personality in the RealClearPolitics polling average, a figure that has since plummeted to 3.5% overall.

Questions surrounding Fetterman's physical ability to serve following a stroke have helped to improve Oz's prospects. The pair are set to debate next Tuesday.

The gubernatorial race showed the Democrats with far better prospects as Democrat Josh Shapiro leads Republican Doug Mastriano 53%-42%.

The poll, conducted Oct. 4-12 surveyed 1,377 likely Pennsylvania voters.
