Wisconsin GOP Rep. Glenn Grothman says that Democrats' policies regarding children will prove very costly for them in the midterm elections.

"This idea of robbing children of their childhood and asking an eight- or nine-year-old, 'Are you gay?' or 'Are you transgender?' is beyond belief," Grothman said on the John Solomon Reports podcast. "It's beyond belief. The local nut school boards did it. It's more beyond belief if the US Congress does it and we are very close to that happening."

Grothman was referring to a bill that 220 Democrats voted for called the LGBTQ Data Inclusion Act, which would ask all Americans including those under the age of 10, what their sexual preference is.

"The idea that it would be any of the government's business to ask a 30-year-old what their sexual preferences is it's outlandish," Grothman stated. "It's more outlandish when we talk about 14-year-olds and it's more outlandish when we talk about nine-year-olds."

According to Grothman, Democrats have been able to push this agenda only because the public was mostly oblivious.

"The only reason that they've been able to get away with this is because the public has been asleep or not caring," Grothman explained. "And the idea that we should sit here as our young children become sexualized, or wondering whether they're gay or transgendered it's just beyond belief."

While issues such as crime and inflation are important, the issue of protecting children is what's really going to turn things around for the Republicans, Grothman says.

"I think the Republicans are focusing on inflation and crime, and that's fine," Grothman concluded. "But they also ought to be telling the parents of children out there that the privacy of the adults is on the line and the innocence of children is on the line. Every one of these Democrats wants to ask young children, 'Are you gay or not?' at a very young age. And that is just so far from what our country's values should be."
