Dr. Oz wins Pennsylvania primary recount

The Trump-endorsed candidate waited more than three weeks for the results

Dr. Mehemet Oz is Pennsylvania's Republican candidate for U.S. Senate following a recount that ended Wednesday showing he beat businessman David McCormick by fewer than 1,000 votes. 

Oz, whom former President Donald Trump endorsed, will go on to face Pennsylvania Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman this Fall.

McCormick conceded to Oz last week, but the recount determined that the celebrity doctor beat McCormick by 951 votes, the Associated Press reported. 

Oz said he is "tremendously grateful" for McCormick's support in a statement Friday.

The Pennsylvania race is likely to be instrumental in determining which party controls the Senate after the midterms.
