New York GOP gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin gets backing of former President Trump

According to a recent Marist poll, current Democratic governor Kathy Hochul is ahead by 10 points, 51% to 41%.

New York GOP gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin was endorsed by President Trump on his platform, TRUTH Social, calling him a "winner."

"I have watched and known Congressman Lee Zeldin for many years," Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. "He is a great and brilliant lawyer who was a 'must see' for others in Congress when they had a complex legal problem that was holding up legislation."

"Lee was strong on the Border, Crime, our great Military & Vets (like few others!), and fought hard to protect our 2nd Amendment, and succeeded," the post continued. "Lee Zeldin is a WINNER who GOT THINGS DONE."

According to a recent Marist poll, current Democratic governor Kathy Hochul is ahead by 10 points, 51% to 41%.

The Hill reports that the main issues Zeldin is campaigning on include reducing crime, controlling inflation and making sure parents have a say in education.  

"We have just 24 days to go until we FIRE @KathyHochul & save our state," Zeldin tweeted on Saturday.
