The Republican path to the presidency in 2024 will be running through a city that made beer, cheese and The Fonz famous.

The Republican National Committee on Friday formally named Milwaukee the host city for the GOP’s presidential nominating convention two summers from now. All 168 committee members endorse the city after the other finalist, Nashville, bowed out earlier in the week.

“Milwaukee is a world-class city, and we are eager to see it shine in the spotlight come 2024,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel tweeted out after the vote.

Mayor Cavalier Johnson hailed the decision as a major economic boon for Wisconsin’s largest city.

"I may be biased because I’m the mayor, but I think you all made the right choice,” Johnson said. “I look forward to presenting my city to Republican delegates, to alternates, and representatives of the news media as well who will descend upon Milwaukee.

“We want to share our waterfront, we want to share our river walks. We want you to enjoy our hotels, we want you to visit our museums, we want you take in our natural beauty, we want you to eat at our fine restaurants, we want you to tip generously, very generously. Milwaukee is looking forward to hosting world class events in the years to come," the mayor added.
