Wisconsin Republican Rep. Glenn Grothman on Tuesday called out President Joe Biden and his administration for pushing left-wing politics in the military, an approach that he asserts has compromised military readiness.

"I am proud to say that the United States has the best and strongest military in the world," he said during a hearing of the House Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs. "We all know that the primary mission of the Armed Forces is to protect and defend the nation and our interests abroad. However, the military is not the institution for social experiments and political correctness."

"This Administration seems to be willfully blinded by how its progressive ideals are affecting military readiness and recruitment," he said, before pointing to an ongoing recruiting shortage facing the armed forces.

"Despite lowering fitness standards, relaxing tattoo policies, and increasing recruiting bonuses, fewer and fewer young adults are joining our military ranks," he went on. "Meanwhile, the Biden Administration is more focused on how cadets at military academies use the correct pronouns rather than learn how to lead, work as a team, and defend our nation."

He further recounted Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley's assertions that the military must understand "white rage," before noting that the administration has allowed time off for servicemembers to obtain gender-related treatments, financed by tax dollars.

Grothman concluded his remarks by warning that an increasingly politicized military would lose support from the general public, saying, "Data shows that most Americans still trust of our military, but this trust cannot be taken for granted."
