Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday announced that she had filed impeachment articles targeting President Joe Biden.

The move from the Peach State freshman member came during Biden's first full day in office after he was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States on Wednesday.

"President Joe Biden is unfit to hold the office of the Presidency," Greene said in a statement about the move. "His pattern of abuse of power as President Obama's Vice President is lengthy and disturbing. President Biden has demonstrated that he will do whatever it takes to bail out his son, Hunter, and line his family's pockets with cash from corrupt foreign energy companies.

"President Biden is even on tape admitting to a quid pro quo with the Ukrainian government threatening to withhold $1,000,000,000 in foreign aid if they did not do his bidding. President Biden residing in the White House is a threat to national security and he must be immediately impeached."

In partisan votes, the House of Representatives voted in favor of impeaching former President Trump twice during his recently concluded four-year term in office. After the first time the House voted to impeach Trump, the Senate ultimately voted to acquit him on both articles of impeachment. Then the House earlier this month voted to impeach Trump on a single article shortly before Joe Biden was slated to be sworn in as the nation's next commander-in-chief. If the Senate holds an impeachment trial on this latest House impeachment vote, that trial would occur during Biden's presidency.
