An Ohio city is battling a measles outbreak among unvaccinated children and has requested aid from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In the city of Columbus, there have thus far been 19 confirmed cases tied to 12 schools or daycares. At least nine have been hospitalized, according to Columbus Public Health.

"All facilities are actively working with Columbus Public Health and following our guidance," a CPH spokesperson said, per The Hill. All of the children are under the age of 4, except for one six-year old.

The CDC team will assist local health officials in understanding the means by which the disease spreads, the agency confirmed. It will further identify areas with low vaccination rates for Measles Mumps and Rubella for enhanced vaccine education efforts.
