The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability has demanded that Treasury Department Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs Jonathan Davidson sits for a transcribed interview with the committee as Treasury stonewalls its request for information related to its investigation of the Biden family.

Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., in a letter to Davidson, contended that Treasury had declined to honor his requests for information and that he therefore seeks direct, under oath, testimony.

"As you are aware, on January 11, 2023, the Committee requested the Department of the Treasury (Treasury) produce certain information in the custody of Treasury, including certain Suspicious Activity Reports," Comer wrote. "Almost two months after this request, Treasury has provided no documents or responsive information to the Committee. Additionally, Treasury refuses to give a timeline of when such documents will be provided to the Committee despite our repeated accommodations outlined in our February 24, 2023 letter."

"Therefore, the Committee requests that you, as Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs within Treasury, make yourself available for a transcribed interview with Committee staff," he continued.

"Treasury Department officials have repeatedly said that they are cooperating with the Committee's request but all we've seen is obstruction," the Kentucky Republican said in a press release announcing the letter. "We've offered multiple good faith accommodations, but Treasury continues to provide excuses and employ delay tactics. We are done with the excuses."

The committee is investigating the Biden family's allegedly malfeasant business transactions over the years as part of a larger effort by House Republicans to review the administration's activities.
