Nearly 70% of unmarried females voted Democrat in House races, exit polls show

Both married women and married men are more likely to vote Republican.

Exit polls show nearly 70% of unmarried females voted for Democrats in House races, according to exit polls for the midterm elections.

While 31% of unmarried women voted for the Republican nominee for Congress, according to a CNN exit poll published Wednesday, 68% of single women voted for the Democratic nominee.

However, married women are more likely to vote Republican by 56% to 42% who vote Democrat. 

Unmarried men are also more likely to vote Democrat, albeit at lower rates than single women. The poll showed that 45% of unmarried men voted for the Democratic House nominee while 52% voted for Republicans. 

Married men are slightly more likely to vote Republican than those who are single, as 59% of married men voted for Republicans and 39% voted for Democrats. 

The exit poll was conducted on Nov. 8, with 18,571 total respondents.
