A Pew Research poll shows Catholics are now leaning toward presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump over incumbent President Biden, a Catholic, for the country's next commander-in-chief in November.

The poll found 55% of Catholics support or lean toward Trump, whereas 45% of Catholics support Biden in a head-to-head match.

In 2020, Trump held a narrow lead of 50% to 49% with Catholics. Biden still leads with Hispanic Catholics 49% to 47%. In 2020, that demographic preferred Biden to Trump 67% to 26%.

Approximately 60% of protestants support Trump, and 69% of Atheists, agnostics and religiously unaffiliated support Biden. Only 28% of the latter group favored Trump.
