Dixon closes 17 point deficit, brings Michigan gov race to tie, despite Whitmer's big cash advantage

The two are nearly tied despite the fact Whitmer raised 26 times the amount of money raised by Dixon.

Michigan GOP gubernatorial nominee Tudor Dixon is now tied with Democrat incumbent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, less than three weeks before Election Day, according to a new poll.

The Michigan News Source/Trafalgar poll released Sunday shows Dixon with 47.9% of the vote, compared to 48.4% for Whitmer – in response to the survey question of who would you vote for it the race were held today.

The RealClearPoltics.com polls average – which includes the new Michigan News Source/Trafalgar poll – shows Whitmer with a 2.6 point lead. The site also shows Whitmer had a 17 point advantage, her largest in the race, in late August. 

The poll was conducted from Oct. 18-21 among 1,079 likely general election voters with 2.9% margin of error. 

The Whitmer campaign has raised $14 million, 26 times the amount raised by Dixon's, The Detroit News reported last month.
