The FDA reportedly plans to ban Juul vape products from being sold in the United States.

The move was first reported Wednesday by The Wall Street Journal.

The agency had been investigating the company for over two years.

The Food and Drug Administration could announce the decision as early as Wednesday.

Juul sought approval of its menthol and tobacco flavored products to remain on shelves. The company had previously attempted to appease federal regulators by halting production of their fruit-flavored pods, which health advocacy groups claimed disproportionately appealed to young people.

Juul has been the target of thousands of lawsuits claiming that its product was unlawfully marketed toward underage smokers. Stanford researchers described their marketing as "patently youth-oriented."
