A Finland resident has blown up his Tesla Model S vehicle instead of paying roughly $23,900 for a new battery pack.

Tuomas Katainen recorded the stunt and posted it on YouTube, attracting over 5 million viewers since its Dec. 17 debut.

Katainen bought his 2013 Tesla used and had no problems with the electric vehicle over its first 930 miles until an error code appeared on its control panel, according to his video.

After the vehicle was in a repair shop for a month and Katainen got the nearly $24,000 estimate, he decide to retrieve the out-of-warranty vehicle, he says in the foreign-language video produced by Finnish YouTuber Pommijätkät, saying, "Now I’m going to explode the whole car away."

A production crew affixed about 66 pounds of dynamite to the self-driving sedan and included a crash test dummy with a picture of Telsa founder Elon Musk face attached.

Musk reportedly said in 2019 that a total battery replacement should cost $5,000 to $7,000.

Katainen reportedly bought the car used, with one of two previous owners having replace its original battery, which apparently was not serviced by Tesla, which resulted in the company not servicing the vehicle for him.

He also reportedly had the vehicle repaired after being quoted the high price and a Tesla dealership and drove the car for some time before having it blown up.
