A married couple, their five children, and their maternal grandmother have died after Utah man Michael Haight, 42, shot them all, including himself, in response to his wife's filing for divorce two weeks prior.

Haight's wife, Tausha, 40, in late December had filed for divorce, according to court records that the New York Post viewed. Authorities discovered the eight dead while performing a wellness check on the family. Relatives and friends of the family had contacted the police saying they could not contact the Haights.

"Officers entered the residence at approximately 4 p.m. and discovered three adults and five minors deceased inside the home," read a press release from the Enoch City government. "Each appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds."

"While this intense investigation is ongoing, investigators currently believe there are no suspects outstanding. Evidence suggests that the suspect took his own life after killing seven others in the home," it continued.

Among the dead, are Michael, Tausha, Tausha's mother, Gail Earl, and the couple's three daughters and two sons. Their bodies were all discovered in the family's Enoch City home. The three daughters were aged 17, 12, and 7 while the two sons were 7 and 4.

Enoch City Manager Rob Dotson lamented the family's passing, saying "[m]any of us have served with them in church, in the community and gone to school with these individuals," per the Post. "This community at this time is hurting. They’re feeling loss, they’re feeling pain and they have a lot of questions."
