N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo about stimulus bill: 'I find it reckless'
<p>New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Thursday that the stimulus bill passed by the Senate to aid Americans during the coronavirus crisis does not do enough for states.</p><p>"I'm disappointed," he said. "I find it irresponsible. I find it reckless."</p><p>The Senate on Wednesday passed a $2.2 trillion emergency coronavirus aid package, providing relief to families, workers and businesses struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic. The relief package provides New York state with $5 billion to address the economic fallout from the pandemic. New York has already spent $1 billion to respond to the deadly outbreak, Cuomo said.</p><p>Cuomo said that's not enough to address the state's losses which he estimates are $10 to $15 billion.</p><p>"The congressional action, in my opinion, simply failed to address the governmental need," he said.</p><p>New York state, one of the nation's hardest hit from the pandemic, has 37,250 cases of coronavirus and more than 380 deaths.</p>
