U.S.-Canada border closed to nonessential traffic

<p>President Donald Trump Wednesday announces a temporary closure of the U.S. northern border with Canada in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus.</p><p>"The president, as you all are aware, also announced today, by mutual consent, the northern border with Canada will be closed to non-essential travel," Vice President Mike Pence said in a White House briefing on the coronavirus, adding it does not include essential travel and transit of goods.</p><p>Trump said essential travel would include medical-related trips. He also told reporters that was not shutting down the U.S.-Mexico border but would initiate "certain provisions that will allow the [U.S.]great latitude as to what we do."</p>
