Trump promises to reopen country 'very soon'
President Donald Trump said Monday that he plans on reopening commerce in the country "very soon," adding that the cure can't be worse than the disease.
"This was a medical problem. We are not going to let it turn into a long lasting financial problem. It started out as a purely medical problem and it's not going to go beyond that. Just not going to allow that to happen."
Trump outlined his administration's efforts to stem the spread of the disease, including passing paid sick leave for workers, three months of paid emergency leave throughout the course of the coronavirus crisis, as well as money for the development of treatments and vaccines.
"Now, Congress must demonstrate the same bipartisanship again and joined together to pass the Senate bill is written and avoid playing any more partisan games."
