Two individuals perpetrated an attack outside a Roman Catholic cathedral on Indonesia's Sulawesi island on Palm Sunday, killing themselves and leaving at least 20 people injured, according to police.

"A video obtained by The Associated Press showed body parts scattered near a burning motorbike at the gates of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral in Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi province," the outlet reported.

A priest at the church said he had just completed celebrating Palm Sunday Mass when the explosion occurred around 10:30 a.m., as a first group of churchgoers was departing and another was entering.

The priest said that security guards at the cathedral were suspicious about a couple of people on a motorcycle who wanted to go into the building. When guards went to confront the individuals, one of them set off explosives.

Police later said that the perpetrators died instantly, and evidence from at the crime scene indicates that one was a female.
