Taiwan vows counter-attack if China enters its territory

Taiwan says it will defend itself and launch a counter-attack if Chinese forces invade, aa Beijing increases military activities around the island nation.

"The national army will exercise [the] right to self-defense and counter-attack without exception," Lin Wen-Haung, an Operations and Planning official for Taiwan, said Wednesday, according to Reuters.

China has increased military operations around Taiwan as the country continues to exert its independence from Beijing rule – including launching missiles and flying warplanes into Taiwan airspace.

On Tuesday, Taiwan fired warning shots for the first time at a Chinese drone following President Tsai Ing-wen's orders for the military to take "strong countermeasures" against China.
