Helicopter crash near Kyiv kills 18, including Ukraine's interior minister, other senior officials

A helicopter crash outside of Kyiv on Wednesday killed 18 people, including Ukraine's interior minister and several other senior officials and three children, officials said. 

The cause of the crash is not immediately clear. Fatalities include Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, his deputy Yevhen Yenin and Ministry of Internal Affairs State Secretary Yurii Lubkovych, Ukraine's National Police Chief Ihor Klymenko said, The Associated Press reported

The crash occurred in Brovary, an eastern suburb of the capital of Ukraine. Fighting has not been reported recently in the area.

At least 29 people were injured, including 15 children, according to local officials. Some reports stated that the crash occurred near a kindergarten.
