McDonald's reopening in Kyiv

McDonald's will start reopening locations Tuesday in Kyiv, according to the fast food chain's head of corporate communications in Ukraine.

Restaurants will open in Kyiv and western Ukraine "gradually over two months," McDonald's official Alesya Mudzhyri said Monday on Facebook as translated.

The company paused all operations in Ukraine after Russia invaded in February. McDonald's said it continued to pay more than 10,000 Ukrainian employees' salaries during this time.

Each McDonald's location will reopen by only offering delivery while the drive-through and dine-in will be unavailable until October, Mudzhyri said.

Three restaurants are scheduled to be open on Sept. 20 in Kyiv for delivery only, with seven more scheduled to open a week later.

The chain will have stores open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will close during air raids in order to allow employees and visitors to seek shelter, the company's Ukrainian communications head said.

McDonald's completely ended operations in Russia in May.
