Nicola Sturgeon resigns from leading Scotland as first minister

Nicola Sturgeon resigned from her position as first minister of Scotland on Wednesday after leading the country for more than eight years. 

"I will remain in office until my successor is elected," Sturgeon, the Scottish National Party leader, said at a press conference in Edinburgh, the BBC reported.
