As Ukraine is successfully pushing back Russian forces through a counter-offensive operation, investigators in liberated areas report finding alleged Russian "torture chambers" used to terrorize Ukrainian civilians.

Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko said Sunday that more than 10 torture chambers were found throughout the liberated Kharkiv region, echoing the horrific discoveries in Bucha, Ukraine, earlier this year after Russian troops withdrew.

Vasylenko said victims were "beaten with metal rods, left for days with sacks over their heads, shot by stun guns, rubber bullets. Just for fun, because you didn't look right or breathed wrong."

Investigators are exhuming a mass burial site with an estimated 440 graves in Izium after the town was liberated, The Kyiv Independent reported. Six torture chambers were found in Izium alone, Head of the National Police of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko said.

People "were kept in terrible conditions, they were abused and tortured," he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said children were found among the dead.
