At least four people are dead and 25 are injured in Yeysk, Russia, after an Su-34 fighter-bomber plane crashed into an apartment complex Monday during a training flight.

One of the engines caught fire during takeoff and the two pilots are alive after ejecting from the plane, according to Russian-state controlled media outlet TASS.

“According to the report of the ejected pilots, the cause of the plane crash was the ignition of one of the engines during take-off," according to Russian officials as reported by the Washington Examiner. "At the site of the crash of the Su-34 in the courtyard of one of the residential quarters, the plane’s fuel ignited.”

Fuel from the plane caught fire and the inferno engulfed the entire nine-story apartment building. More than 350 people were evacuated from the building.

Russia's military investigative agency has opened a criminal probe into the crash.

The Su-34 fighter-bomber plane has been used in combat since 2015 and the aircraft is being used in Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
