After former President Donald Trump claimed that he could end Russia's war in Ukraine in 24 hours, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview aired Sunday that he could explain to Trump in 24 minutes why he could not manage the war.
Sunday on NBC News' "Meet the Press," host Kristen Welker asked Zelensky for his thoughts on Trump's claims last month that if elected president, he could make a "fair deal for everybody" and end the war in 24 hours.
"I invite President Trump, if he can come here, I will need 24 minutes ... to explain to President Trump that he can't manage this war. He can't bring peace," Zelensky said.
Russia has taken control of about 11% of Ukraine's territory since invading the country in February 2022, according to a report last week from the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is reportedly concerned about Ukraine's depleting military forces and U.S. and European officials have started quietly discussing peace talks with the Ukrainian government, according to another NBC News report.
