Klobuchar ups the ante on bipartisan gun reform: Red flag law 'shouldn't be the only thing'

A bipartisan agreement on gun control measures should go beyond a federal red flag bill, according to Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.).

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) has said a Florida-style red flag bill has the best chance of gaining the Republican support needed to pass in the 50-50 Senate.

Klobuchar was asked if she shares that view.

"I think it's going to be part of it," the 2020 presidential candidate told Just the News after attending an event with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other lawmakers at the Washington Monument honoring the lives lost to gun violence.

"It shouldn't be the only thing, because we also should at least raise the age on the assault weapons and do the background checks' boyfriend loophole.

"I don't think it should just be one thing but what I call extremist risk order, which is same as red flag. I think that's an effective thing to do on a federal level."
