For first time since 9/11, no new names were added to Army memorial wall at Fort Bragg

New names were not added to a memorial wall at Fort Bragg in North Carolina this year for the first time since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks took place.

A Gold Star Memorial Ceremony took place at the Memorial Plaza at USASOC Headquarters on Fort Bragg  on Thursday where no additional names were put on the memorial wall, reported Task & Purpose, an online defense news website

There are currently on the memorial wall 1,242 soldiers who were killed in combat, according to the U.S. Army.

“Thanks for being here on this solemn but important day,” Lt. Gen. Jonathan Braga, USASOC commanding general, said at the ceremony. “We remember the 1,242 names on this wall, heroes who have fallen in support of this great nation."
