After Youngkin win in Virginia, GOP expands map, targeting 70 House Democrat seats for victory

Republicans are now targeting 70 House Democrats for defeat after the win Tuesday by their candidate, Glenn Youngkin, over Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia governor race. 

The GOP sees Youngkin's successful campaign in a state with Democratic governors since 2014 as a roadmap to take back the majority in Congress in the 2022 midterms.

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Rep. Tom Emmer said that "no Democrat is safe" in this election cycle.

“Voters are rejecting Democrat policies that have caused massive price increases, opened our borders, and spurred a nationwide crime wave," he said in a statement. 

The NRCC had earlier targeted 57 House seats now held by Democrat. 

The additional seats that the GOP is seeking to flip are those of Democratic Reps. Greg Stanton of Arizona, Jennifer Wexton of Virginia, Ed Perlmutter of Colorado, Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania, Joe Courtney of Connecticut, Darren Soto of Florida, Sanford Bishop Jr. of Georgia, Frank Mrvan of Indiana, David Trone of Maryland, G.K. Butterfield of North Carolina, Ann Kuster on New Hampshire, Teresa Leger-Fernandez of New Mexico, and Jim Cooper of Texas.
