Gosar nominates Biggs for House speaker on the floor
House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and New York Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries are running for speaker in the GOP-led chamber
Arizona GOP Rep. Paul Gosar formally nominated Arizona GOP Rep. Andy Biggs for speaker on the House floor Tuesday.
"Washington is broken. We're the last ones to know," he said before nominating Biggs.
House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and New York Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries are running for speaker in the GOP-led chamber. During the four election, each present member who is called on names the candidate they are voting for as speaker.
McCarthy and the conservative House Freedom Caucus have locked horns ahead of the speaker election. The House Freedom Caucus made several demands regarding changes to the rules of the GOP conference but McCarthy rejected most of them.
