House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul Pelosi, purchased between $1 million and $5 million of stock in a semiconductor company ahead of an upcoming vote on legislation containing $52 billion for chipmakers, according to a new Just the News report.

This isn't the first time Paul Pelosi has made headlines for purchasing stock in advance of expected legislation that would benefit the industry in which he invested.

Beyond the Pelosi family, other lawmakers and spouses have come under fire in recent years for similar reasons.

This has led to growing calls to ban lawmakers — and their spouses — from trading stocks given their insider knowledge of pending legislation that could potentially hurt or help particular companies and industries.
