Police identify shooter in deadly Michigan State University shooting

The gunman who fatally shot three students and wounded five other at Michigan State University overnight before killing himself was identified Tuesday morning by authorities.

The shooter in the Monday night shooting has been identified as 43-year-old Anthony Dwayne McRae, according to NBC News. 

Police say McRae had no affiliation to the university, in East Lansing.

He was found dead Monday night from self-inflicted gunshot wound after a manhunt and a confrontation with law enforcement officials in the adjacent city of Lansing, police also told the news outlet. 

The on-campus incident happened at about 8:15 p.m. 

The five wounded people were all taken to a hospital and remain in critical condition

Police say they have yet to learn a motive for the killings.
