China, Russia veto UN resolution by US for immediate cease-fire in Israel-Hamas war

China on Friday vetoed a United Nations resolution sponsored by the United States, based on humanitarian concerns, calling for “an immediate and sustained cease-fire” in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

The measure was voted upon the the U.N.'s 15-member Security Council.

Eleven members were in favor, three were against and one voted in abstention, according to the Associated Press.
