Whistleblowers allege feds show political bias in investigations.

Whistleblowers within the FBI are alleging that the bureau and the Justice Department have launched investigations into conservative-aligned figures without sufficient basis to do so, selectively observing federal guidelines to target certain people but not others.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Monday issued a press release highlighting whistleblower accusations saying "Washington Field Office Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault disregarded agency guidelines requiring substantial factual predication to trigger investigations."

Thibault played a key role in opening a probe into the Trump campaign using information from a "left-aligned organization," according to Grassley's office, which added that Thibault suppressed the organization's bias to seek approval for an investigation from FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Whistleblowers also said Thibault falsely discredited legitimate evidence against President Biden's son, Hunter Biden, concerning his business dealings abroad.

"If these allegations are true and accurate, the Justice Department and FBI are — and have been — institutionally corrupted to their very core to the point in which the United States Congress and the American people will have no confidence in the equal application of the law," Grassley wrote last week in a letter to Wray and Garland.

Previously, Grassley called out politically charged social media posts by Thibault against Republicans in a separate letter to Wray, Garland, and Inspector General Michael Horowitz.

Just the News reported recently on the growing outcry among legal experts against perceived Justice Department strong-arm tactics targeting skeptics of the 2020 presidential election outcome and other critics of the Biden administration.
