Torrential rains flood Tennessee, killing four in Nashville

Torrential storms dumped as much as seven inches of rain across parts of Tennessee, flooding homes, prompting widespread rescues and killing at least four people, authorities said Sunday night.

Nashville Fire Chief William Swann said swift-water teams rescued at least 130 people from cars, apartments and homes.

Nashville Police Chief John Drake said three people aged 70, 64 and 46 were found drowned after Seven Mile Creek flooded, while a 65-year-old man’s body was found on a golf course after he was swept away as he got out of his car that had become stuck in floodwaters, The Associated Press reported.
