Liberal comedians Trevor Noah and Bill Maher torch Biden over Ukraine response

"I'm not sure I can follow Biden's logic," Maher said.

Liberal comics Trevor Noah and Bill Maher joked this week about President Joe Biden's response to Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, noting the invasion began on his watch and not that of former President Donald Trump.

"I'm not sure I can follow Biden's logic," Maher said, criticizing the president for bringing up the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol during a discussion on Ukraine.

"But if Putin thought Trump was really that supportive of him, why didn't he invade when Trump was in office? It's at least worth asking that question if you're not locked into one intransigent thought," Maher told his audience Friday during his HBO show "Real Time with Bill Maher."

The comedian then went on to slam Trump for his comments on the 2020 presidential election.

"Now one guy we know who's locked into one thought is Donald Trump who, when asked what went wrong with Ukraine, said, 'Well what went wrong was a rigged election,'" Maher said. "Kanye [West] thinks less about Pete Davidson than Trump thinks about the rigged election," he joked.

Maher's remarks came three weeks after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine.

Noah, meanwhile, offered rare criticism of the left last week during his Tuesday episode of "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central.

The Liberal comedian ran a clip from a Wall Street Journal report stating President Biden attempted to contact the leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates but they refused to take his calls.

"You have got to be kidding me. Apparently, Saudi Arabia won't even pick up the phone for the president of the United States," Noah said.

"I mean, look, I know it's hard to arrange those calls. You know, Riyadh is eight hours ahead. Biden is asleep by 4:00 p.m. It's a narrow window to make it work," Noah said, making fun of Biden's occasionally light schedule and his nickname of "Sleepy Joe."

"But still that must have been really embarrassing for Biden," Noah said.

"Can you imagine? He phones them, and they don't pick up. He probably had to do that thing where you pretend that the other person did pick up," Noah said before mimicking Biden pretending to take a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki denied that Saudi Arabia and the UAE did not take Biden's calls.

"There were no rebuffed calls. Period," she said, according to The Washington Examiner.

Noah said that because former President Trump was unpredictable, world leaders would not have ignored his calls. He even went as far as saying that Biden probably "wishes he could hire Trump to step in."

"You can say what you want, but this would have never happened to Donald Trump. Never," Noah said. "No one was ever ignoring Donald Trump's calls. Yeah, 'cause if you ignored Donald Trump's calls, you didn't know how he would respond. Maybe he'd send an angry tweet, or maybe he'd just like ban your country from everything. You don't know."

Noah said, "That's why I bet in these situations, Biden actually wishes that he could hire Trump to step in as President Wild Card. You know? Just keep everyone on their toes."

If Trump called the UAE, the country's leaders would be "racing to pick up the phone," he said.
