NFL's Gronkowski retires again after 11 years with Patriots, Buccaneers

Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski announced Tuesday he is retiring again after he came out of retirement in 2020 and went on to help the Tampa Bay, Florida, team win a Super Bowl that year.

"I want to thank the whole entire first class Buccaneers organization for an amazing ride, trusting me to come back to play and help build a championship team," Gronkowski, 33, wrote in tweeting his announcement.

"I will now be going back into my retirement home, walking away from football again with my head held high knowing I gave it everything I had, good or bad, every time I stepped out on the field."

Gronkowski spent nine seasons of his career playing with the New England Patriots, helped the team win three Super Bowls. After retiring in 2019, the Patriots traded him to the Buccaneers, The Athletic reported.

He came out of retirement the following year, and he and legendary quarterback Tom Brady, who also spent most of his career with the Patriots, went on to win Super Bowl LV with the Buccaneers.
