Woods tees off at Masters, stirs fan enthusiasm for comeback after terrible crash, leg injury

Golf Legend Tiger Woods on Thursday teed off at the Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia, roughly 15 months after a vehicle crash that severely injuring his right leg and threatened to end his storied career.

Walking with the slightest hint of a limp, Woods thrilled the gallery with his first birdie of the tournament, after five straight pars, according to the Associated Press.

The 46-year-old Woods severely injured his right leg in February 2021 when he crashed an SUV in Southern California.

Doctors at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center to fix his leg by inserting a rod into his tibia, or lower leg bone, in addition to putting screws and pins into his foot and ankle.

Woods is considered one of the greatest golfers in history – being tied for first in PGA Tour wins and ranked No. 2 for the number of men's Major championships. He's also had at least one major knee surgery and five back operations.
