Donald Trump drops campaign-style video following Mar-a-Lago raid
Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday released a campaign-style video following an FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence as he and his family say Democrats executed the raid to prevent him from running for reelection in 2024.
Trump dropped the video on his platform, Truth Social, just hours after he said the FBI "occupied" his Palm Beach, Fla., home.
"We are a nation in decline. We are a failing nation," Trump opens the video as thunder is heard in the background.
The former president lists all of the problems facing America, including inflation, rising energy costs, the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan and the weaponization of law enforcement against opposing political parties.
"But soon we will have greatness again," Trump says as the music becomes hopeful.
"There is no victory we cannot have," he says, concluding, "The tyrants we are fighting do not stand even a little chance, because we are Americans and Americans kneel to God and God alone, and it is time to start talking about greatness for our country again."
The video ends with Trump's "... the best is yet to come" quote on the screen.
On Monday, Trump said the Mar-a-Lago raid was "an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don't want me to run for President in 2024... and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections."
Trump's son Eric Trump told Fox News' "Hannity" on Monday that the FBI raided the former president's estate because Democrats "don’t want Donald Trump to run and win again in 2024."
He added: "Honestly, I hope – and I’m saying this for the first time – I hope he goes out and beats these guys again because honestly, this country can’t survive this nonsense. It can’t."
Lara Trump, Eric Trump's wife, told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on Monday: "They detest Donald Trump, not just on the Democrat side, but the general establishment, because he's not one of them, because he doesn't play their game. They are terrified he's going to announce any day that he's running for president in 2024 and this is a very convenient way to just throw a little more mud on Donald Trump as though they haven't already done enough."
Eric Trump told Fox's Brian Kilmeade that about 30 FBI agents raided Mar-a-Lago on behalf of the National Archives.
In February, the National Archives and Records Administration said that classified records were retrieved from Mar-a-Lago. About 15 boxes were removed from Trump's Florida home the month prior.
