Trump says his Mar a Lago compound has been raided by FBI: 'Under siege'

Former President Donald Trump on Monday evening issued a statement saying that FBI agents had raided his Florida estate in Mar a Lago, describing his home as being "under siege."

"The are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents," Trump said in a statement. "Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before."

"After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate," he continued. "It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don't want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections."

"Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries," he lamented. "Sadly America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe!"

"What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee?" Trump queried. "Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States."

Two sources who were briefed on the raid confirmed to Just the News on Monday evening that the agents who conducted the raid were searching to see if Trump took classified documents from the White House to his Florida estate. They further confirmed that the agents came from the Washington Field Office, the same office that spurred a senatorial inquiry into political bias in how it launched its investigations.

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley recently highlighted whistleblower claims that former Washington Field Office Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault showed political bias in his opening of investigations, concealing the partisan nature of evidence to open an investigation into the Trump campaign and falsely discrediting evidence against Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden's son.

"If these allegations are true and accurate, the Justice Department and FBI are – and have been – substantially corrupted," Grassley said last week.

Meanwhile, former acting Director of National Intelligence told the "John Solomon Reports" podcast on Monday that he previously told Trump to fire FBI Director Christopher Wray, saying Wray "views everything as a PR exercise, don't criticize the FBI, don't talk about any failures at the FBI."

Trump, moreover, expressed frustration that political investigations into him and his family have been allowed to proceed to this point, saying "the political persecution of President Donald J. Trump has been going on for years, with the now fully debunked Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and so much more, it just never ends."

"It is political targeting at the highest level," he concluded. "The lawlessness, political prosecution, and Witch Hunt must be exposed and stopped."

Trump allies were quick to condemn the FBI raid, with many suggesting it signaled an authoritarian pivot by the Biden administration against its opposition.

"The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves," Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis tweeted. "Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic."

"The Biden DOJ has just raided the home of the leading figure of the opposition party, Donald Trump. This should be a red alert to the GOP that it’s not 'business as usual' in America and that we are hurtling dangerously into uncharted territory" wrote conservative filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza.

"We've invaded nations and toppled dictators for less than what our own FBI is doing right now. Why do we put up with blatant third-world thuggery from a man who can't even put on a jacket without his wife's help?" wrote radio host Charlie Kirk.
