AIPAC halts fundraising for GOP Sen. Cruz, Rep. Scott Perry over Israel funding vote

The influential pro-Israel group AIPAC has reportedly stop fundraising for several congressional Republicans – including Rep. Scott Perry and Sen. Ted Cruz – following their vote last month against supplemental funding for Israel.

The pro-Israel lobby group, formally known as the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, has removed the fundraising portal on its PAC website for Cruz, Perry and fellow GOP Rep. Ryan Zinke, of Montana, the publication Jewish Insider reported Thursday. 

Perry, a former House Freedom Caucus chairman, is perhaps the most vulnerable among the three in their respective November reelection bids. The Cook Political Report rates Ryan's race as "“lean Republican, " compared to the slightly higher "likely Republican" for Cruz and Zinke. 

AIPAC spokesperson Marshall Wittmann said the group has not withdrawn its endorsement of Perry but did answer further questions from Jewish Insider about when or whether it might resume fundraising for Perry.

Perry said in a statement that he voted against the bill due to what he described as funding for Hamas, referring to humanitarian aid funding.
