House Minority Leader McCarthy in first quarter raises more money than any other Republican

Embattled freshman GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene raised the large sum of $3.2 million in her first three months Congress.

House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy raised $27.1 million in the first three months of this year, the most money collected by a Republican in the first quarter of 2021.

McCarthy raised the $27.1 million in mostly two months, with January being a rough month for Republican fundraising, sources told The Wall Street Journal.

The California Republican and President Trump ally, previously raise about $100 million over the last two-year cycle, which averages to about $12.5 million a quarter. 

The entire National Republican Congressional Committee, the GOP House's fundraising arm, pulled in $33.7 million for the first quarter. McCarthy during the quarter also donated over $5 million to the committee's fund.

He donated $11 million in total to help Republicans take back the House in 2022, with more than $5.5 million going to the NRCC, $4 million going to individual GOP members and nearly $2 million going to state parties, according to Fox News.

Despite claims that the Republicans aren't doing well in the wake of losing both the White House and the Senate, fundraising efforts have generally been strong. Freshman Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also raised a large sum, $3.2 million, in her first three months in office, according to CNN.
