Former GOP Rep Bob Livingston calls AG Garland 'tool in the Democratic Party’s' misuse of DOJ
Livingston said he was a victim of Garland's "dysfunctional" leadership and was unfairly targeted.
Former Louisiana GOP Bob Livingston is accusing Attorney General Merrick Garlandof being s "tool" of the Democratic Party in its manipulation of the Justice Department, under his leadership.
Livingston made in argument in a Wall Street Journal opinion essay published Wednesday.
"You will be remembered as a tool in the Democratic Party’s strategy of misusing the Justice Department to visit injustice on innocent people with differing political views," Livingston wrote.
The department under Democrat President Joe Biden has been accused by conservatives of targeting people based on political views including parents at school board meetings and those who attend traditional Catholic mass.
Livingston said he was a victim of Garland's "dysfunctional" leadership and was unfairly targeted.
He said he was targeted by the FBI for work he did at his lobbying group for representing an international client in 2018, which his group had done in the past.
"At the end of the interview, the agents presented me with a search warrant for all my company’s records related to their questions," Livingston wrote. "As the lead agent left, she thanked me for my service to the country."
He said at the end his company was cleared of all charges but what happened to him was clearly targeted.
"I am a victim of your dysfunctional leadership, but unlike many of your targets, I have survived unscathed," Livingston wrote.
